Mata Vaishno Devi Vrindavan

Maa Vaishno's Murti (Statue) is the star attraction of the Ashram. Thisstatue is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on the Ashram land, which issituated at the world-renowned land of childhood homeland of Lord Shri Krishna.

The statue of Maa Vaishno has been built by Shri Chaudhry to thank thegoddess for all the love, affection and care she has bestowed on her staunchdevotee. The statue has been designed and built by a team of young artists, namely Mr Manoj Das, Mr. Ashish Tanwar & Mr. Vinit Chaudhary andexperienced architecture form, M/s Designwell India (P) Ltd. with its ChiefConsultant & Architech, Mr Arun Verma. The team has beautifully translatedMr Chaudhry's vision in to a grand idol for centuries to come.

The statue is an elegant rendition of goddess Vaishno Maa in a vibrantred colour indian saree adorning graceful imitation trinkets and elegantweapons of the goddess, which signify her authority and protectionism. Thestatue of the goddess could not have been complete without her royal carrier,Lion. The statue is seated charmingly atop her ferocious carrier. Right next tothis splendid figurine, there is a striking a totem of god Shri Hanuman, theguardian of Maa Vaishno. This figure is an epitome of absolute altruism for itsdevotees, along with it being a very clear symbol of strength &protectionism for its advocates. The most remarkable part of this structure isthat it stands tall and mighty on top of the roof of a capacious temple of MaaVaishno.

The total mass of the statue at the foundation level including that oflion and platform above is approximately 1,700 ton. The making of this pairedidol employed approximately over 400 tons of the steel and concrete, includingall the objects, weapons and accessories that the Maa (The Mother Goddess)keeps with her.

To provide stability and strength to this giant statue, a RaftFoundation has been provided at a depth of 4.0 meter below the natural groundlevel. The Raft Foundation consists of Beams of 1.5mtr deep connecting theinner core with 700mm thick slab between them. Columns have been taken from theraft at the point of each leg of?the lion and where the deity - Shri Hanuman Jiis sitting in front of Maa Vaishnodevi. ??A massive slab with beam size2000mmX2600mm has been provided between these major columns with 750 mm slab inbetween and the whole load of lion and the statue has been transferred at thislevel, by design. Above this level (at 55'-0" level) steel structure hasbeen provided along with various components of the structure.

To ensure the firmness of the structure, a dynamic analysis has beenperformed for a wind speed of 47m/sec and earthquake zone of IV as per IS 1893.In addition, the results were also verified manually for the forces and themoments calculated using computerized software.

The Skelton of steel structure has been fabricated at site using boxsection technique. Ductility has been added as per prevailing IS code in steelstructure. Outer shape of the Statue, Lion, Lord Hanuman has been constructedby wrapping welded wire fabrics to the steel members and finishing it withcement, sand and mortar.

While constructing this magnificent structure, many challenges werefaced regarding the cantilever design of Tail of Lion, Gaddha (Mace), Chakra(Spinning wheel), Trishul (Trident), Dhanush (Bow), Shankha (Conch Shell) andFlower. All this was intelligently managed with time tested mathematicalcalculations and the best engineering practices available.

Total height of Maa Vaishnodevi Murti from the ground level of thetemple (which is 3'-6" below the road level) is 141 feet. Theheight of the Lion of Maa Vaishnodevi is about 35'-6" from road level, from where height of Maa Vaishnodevi is about 102'-0". The variousdimension of Lion, Hanumanji and the objects carried by Maa Vaishnodevi isgiven below.
